As sewing befits a metaphor for life,
top-stitching is not sufficient.
I want a fully woven, colorful tapestry;
complicated, interdependent threads;
patterns reflecting forethought, aim, and exquisiteness.
(A pin prick here and there through the process is worth the price and a necessary risk).
I don’t merely want the shallow, decorative stitches
that show only on the outside.
Give me the fully embedded needle that
dives and moves and rips and pierces its fabric…
the artistry and sacrifice of it all…
resulting in a heavily-laden, embroidered delicacy
reserved for only the toughest and most sensitive of hearts.
